The predominant methods of purification technologies are Reverse Osmosis (RO), Ultra Violet (UV), Ultra Filtration (UF). Each of this technologies has their own advantages and disadvantages. You can choose the best one for your homes by knowing their features.
Reverse Osmosis (RO)
Reverse Osmosis is a purification technology where water is allowed to pass through a semi-permeable membrane under pressure. This technology completely wipes off all contaminants from the water such as pesticides, lead, cadmium, iron, arsenic, microbes, salt. It is the most reliable and trusted method which provides 100% pure and safe drinking water.
Ultra Violet (UV)
Ultra Violet water purifiers is a purification method which disinfects water with ultra-violet rays. This purifier has an ultra violet lamp inside the chamber that emits germicidal wavelength. When water flows around the chamber, UV rays kill harmful pathogens like virus, bacteria etc., present in the water. Ultra Violet Purifiers does not alter the taste, odor, pH or conductivity of water. Ultra Violet is a highly effective method that disinfects water upto 99.9%
Ultra Filtration purification technology is similar to Reverse Osmosis technology. Here, water is passed through the semi-permeable membrane under pressure caused by hydrostatic force. This membrane has minute pores which do not allow microscopic components, germs like bacteria, viruses and turbidity of water. In this technology, there will be no wastage of water.
RO vs UV vs UF
|REVERSE OSMOSIS (RO)||ULTRA VIOLET (UV)||ULTRA FILTRATION (UF)|
|RO Water Purifier undergoes pre-filtration to remove turbidity from the water.||UV Water Purifier does not remove turbidity from water.||UF Water Purifier removes turbidity from the water.|
|It requires electricity to generate pressure.||It requires electricity.||UF Purifier does not require electricity to purify water.|
|Kills all microbes and remove dead bodies of the micro-organisms.||Disinfects micro-organisms but do not dead bodies of microbes.||UF Purifier kills all microbes and removes dead bodies of the micro-organisms.|
|It is suitable for hard water that contains heavy metals and other dissolved impurities.||UV Purifier is suitable for soft water without heavy metals or dissolved impurities.||It is suitable for soft water without metals or dissolved impurities.|
|There will be 60% water wastage in RO purifiers.||There is no wastage of water in UV purifiers.||There is no wastage of water in UF purifiers.|
